Benefit from an active environmental management system
Improvement beyond legal requirements
With ISO 14001: Increased confidence at reduced cost
ISO 14001:2015 and EMAS 2017 edition
A new edition of ISO 14001 was published in September 2015. The innovation concerns the application of a high-level structure that should lead to greater uniformity between management system standards. In terms of content, the new edition of the standard focuses more on the context of the organization and environmental aspects in the value chain. This includes, for example, upstream and downstream processes, or enterprise risk management.
The EMAS provisions have also been revised to ensure better compatibility with the ISO 14001 environmental management standard. The new Regulation (EU) 2017/1505 entered into force on 18 September 2017 and includes the updating of Annex I (Environmental Assessment), II (Requirements for an Environmental Management System) and III (Environmental Audit). Annex IV of the Regulation is also currently being revised.
Positive external impact through certificate and registration certificate
In addition to the DIN EN ISO 14001 certificate of conformity, EMAS-certified companies, after a successful audit, are entered in the EMAS public register and receive a registration certificate.< /p>
Benefits in a nutshell:
DIN EN ISO 14001 and EMAS certification offers you the opportunity to benefit:
- Save money through continuous improvement in environmental protection
- Saving resources (e.g. electricity, water)
- Timely implementation of food conservation measures
- Simplify the procedures for meetings and approvals with the parties of the oversight bodies
- Meeting customer requirements for environmental commitment (supplier eligibility condition)
- Increasing the image as a sustainable enterprise
- Reducing environmental risks
ISO 14001 implementation and certification goals:
- Minimizing the impact of effects that negatively affect the environment (air, water, earth);
- Compliance with external and regulations, expansion in environmental regulation;
- Continuous improvement of environmental aspects.
The ISO 14001 standard can be applied to any organization, regardless of size or type, in manufacturing or service industries. You yourself represent the dissemination of your environmental management system (EMS). You set for yourself, implement the requirements throughout the organization or in process events.
Benefits of Implementation and Certification:
- Strengthening the credibility of your organization and the company's image.
Currently, there is a steadily growing number of customers who, before placing an order with your organization, will be interested in the question: how “green” are your products and what impact does the enterprise have on the environment when production?
- Help you achieve legal compliance.
One of the most significant benefits for an enterprise that can be derived from the establishment and certification of an environmental management system (EMS) in accordance with ISO 14001 is that it creates real mechanisms timely identification, tracking and compliance with legal requirements. Every organization enforces legal requirements without a management system, but the EMS will allow you to do this systematically and with the confidence that you have not missed anything. At the same time, you will be able to demonstrate to stakeholders that you have a system of analysis, evaluation and decision-making with which you are ready for immediate action.
- Manage Unintended Costs
Every company tries to cut down on unintended costs. Thanks to the EMS, you will be able to identify, manage and reduce the number of environmental incidents (reducing environmental fines, reducing losses to eliminate the consequences of accidents).
Continuously improving the EMS will reduce waste, reduce resource consumption, and therefore reduce operating costs (for example, saving electricity).
